GMP Director Wins National Honor

The Gifted Math Program is proud to announce that Co-Director Harry O'Malley has been honored with a Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. Harry has been the Co-Director of GMP for seven years and an instructor for 15 years. The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) are the top honors bestowed by the U.S. Government to K-12 STEM teachers. Each year, up to 110 outstanding educators from across the country may be recognized by the White House for their passion, dedication, and impact in the classroom.

“I have dedicated my life to teaching, which has often involved keeping my head down, focusing on the details of the moment, and working to improve and innovate each day. The Presidential Award has allowed me to step back and reflect on all the work I've engaged in and celebrate it. I have worked with and learned from so many incredible educators and students and have been involved with so many projects that make me proud. It has been a pleasure and an honor to be a part of this tradition.”
