Short Description of Courses
GMP-I
Grade 7
Part of the first year is spent accelerating students through standard school and state curricular topics including early concepts in geometry, algebra and probability. These topics are addressed through problems that are solved for homework, discussed in classroom groups and presented by peers. The better part of the year is spent on enriching topics that are unique to GMP and are not addressed thoroughly in a standard pre-college curriculum. These include set theory, operational systems, mappings, and logic. Students will also learn some computer programming and use it as a tool in their mathematical studies.

GMP-II
Grade 8
The second year course is divided into two sections. One section involves accelerating students through standard school and state curricular topics that prepare them for the Algebra I Regents Exam in June. The second section involves enriching topics that are unique to GMP and would not be addressed in a standard pre-college curriculum. The topics fall into two categories: computational mathematics and and function representation. Computational mathematics topics include computational logic and sets. The study of function representations includes study of polynomial, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions as well as their integrals and derivatives.

GMP-III
Grade 9
Our high school freshmen take a geometry course in two sections. The first section involves accelerating students through standard school and state curricular topics that prepare them for the Geometry Regents Exam in June. The second section involves enriching topics that are unique to GMP and would not be addressed thoroughly in a standard pre-college curriculum. These include transformational, analytic, and computational geometry.

GMP-IV
Grade 10
The fourth year of GMP is highly accelerated. The course is equivalent to two high school courses, namely Algebra II/Trigonometry and Precalculus. Topics include (but are not limited to) statistics; sequences; limits; exponential, logarithmic, polynomial, rational and trigonometric functions; complex numbers; and vectors.

MTH-141: College Calculus I
4 College Credits (optional) — Fall only
Differentiation and integration with applications

MTH-142: College Calculus II
4 College Credits (optional) — Spring only and must pass College Calculus I
Differentiation and integration of transcendental functions; infinite sequences; series and power series; methods of integration; additional topics in analytic geometry.

Grade 12
Sixth year students take two semesters of college math.

MTH-241: College Calculus III
4 College Credits (optional) — Fall only and must pass College Calculus II
Geometry and vectors of n-dimensional space; Green’s Theorem, Stokes’ Theorem, multidimensional differentiation and integration; application to two and three-dimensional space.

MTH-309: Introduction to Linear Algebra
4 College Credits (optional) — Spring only and must pass College Calculus II
Linear equations, linear transformations, matrices, determinants, vector spaces, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, inner products, orthogonality, quadratic forms.
