Who to Select for GMP Nomination

  • Students are usually nominated in 6th grade. We do accept a few highly precocious younger students each year. Students in 8th grade and older may also be nominated. We will advise older nominees as to whether we have openings. (Additional information: Policies On Older and Younger Students.)
  • A good initial screen is ranking at or about the 95th percentile in reading and 98th percentile in mathematics on your most recently administered standardized test.
  • Nominated students should have demonstrated such characteristics as creativity, persistence, curiosity, independence, and enthusiasm for mathematics.
  • We are concerned about under-representation of girls and minorities in our classes, and we encourage their nomination. We apply our admission criteria equally to all children.
